Let me take you back to 2018. I had just earned my license as a financial professional, my LLQP (Life License Qualification Program). Getting that license was a game-changer. I dove deep into the concepts of life insurance, retirement planning, the Rule of 72, and the strategies behind wealth building. Honestly, it was mind-blowing. Here I was, a second-generation Caribbean woman, born and raised in Ottawa, realizing how much I didn’t know about building financial independence.

The System Isn’t Built for Us To Thrive

You’d think we’d be taught how to take control of our financial futures. But instead, we’re trained to be good employees, not independent wealth-builders. And trust me, there’s a huge difference. But let me not get ahead of myself. That knowledge sparked the idea for Mindset Money Matters. I wanted to create something that inspired people, no matter their age, to take their financial wellness into their own hands.

Dream Big: Legacy, Wealth, and Community

The intention behind the illustrations and affirmations in Mindset Money Matters was crystal clear to me from the start: legacy. It’s about financial independence, awareness, wealth-building, and most importantly community and family unity. I want people flipping through these pages to be inspired to explore their own paths to financial freedom. I want them to think about their legacy, about building something that doesn’t just end with them, but something that lives on for generations.

Passing It On: Your Wealth Should Live Beyond You

I always say, your wealth shouldn’t die with you. It needs to move through you, passed down like those major brands we all know but don’t need to name here. The point is, financial independence gives you the freedom to live on your terms, and that’s a gift worth passing on.

Now, after Mindset Money Matters, we didn’t release another book until 2024. That gap wasn’t just about timing, it was about growth. The third and fourth book took its own journey from concept to creation, starting in 2022, but each one has been a piece of this larger vision: empowering people to live fully, creatively, and wisely.

And here we are, still on this journey. Every new book, every new idea, is rooted in this core belief: when you tap into your mind, your creativity, and yes—your finances—you can create the life you dream of. That’s part of what Soulful Colour is about.
